NAUTI THOUGHTS: Non-Gym Workouts
HAPPY WELLNESS WEDNESDAY
I hope everyone enjoyed last weeks post and decided to go to the ARC to try out a new class. Hopefully, one that you never knew you wanted to try. This weeks post will be dedicated to those of you who are looking to get your nauti body ready for spring break, but the gym is just too much of a frat frenzy for you.
1. BEACH YOGA
We live in a beautiful area and it's time to start taking advantage of it. Yoga is already known to relax your body and help you detox from your stressful life. That being said, doing yoga at the beach is only going to be more relaxing! Just imagine, you and your toned body in downward dog listening to the waves crashing behind you, and the sun beating down on your skin. Almost too tempting to miss out on, right? This is an activity that you can do with just a mat and some friends or if you aren't quite a yogi yet, sign up for a beach yoga class and find your inner zen.
2. HIKING
Although San Diego isn't the most mountainous area you could possibly be in, that shouldn't stop you from finding a hiking trail that is right for you. I think we all know of the Torrey Pines hike in La Jolla. If you don't know of it, you need to get over there ASAP. With multiple trails and gorgeous beach views along the way, it is the perfect hike to get a good workout and to take your basic sorority girl pictures. If you are more of an avid hiker and are really looking for a challenge, then you should try the Three Sisters Waterfall Trail. (Don't forget, walking at incline really does burn those calories:))
3. BIKING
Riding a bike is a great way to stay active while not feeling like you are doing any work. If you don't own a bike, don't worry! Even on a college student's budget you can rent a bike for the day at a low price and be able to ride as much as your heart desires. I recommend Coronado Island as a great place to get started because it is not only beautiful but has an easier terrain. Along any of the major beaches like Pacific Beach and Ocean Beach, you will find a bike path that lines the water. As you pedal your way along the strand admiring the beauty, you won't even think about all of the hard work that you are putting in.
4. WATER SPORTS
Okay, this one might seem obvious given that we live in San Diego but I feel like not enough people take advantage of the access we have to the ocean. Whether you are paddle boarding, surfing, or doing something a little more adventurous like wakeboarding, you will be getting a killer body and an amazing tan all at the same time. If you don't feel comfortable starting up a water sport by yourself, grab a pal and go to a training class! It might seem daunting at first but your body will thank you later for working out and trying something new.
~~Remember at the end of the day, don't compare your workout routine to others. Make sure you find something that works for you and stick with it~~
So go outside, stay fit, and LIVE NAUTI
