NAUTI THOUGHTS: Healthy Dessert Options

HAPPY WELLNESS WEDNESDAY

With Valentines Day just around the corner, there is only one thing on everyone's mind: chocolate. There are so many advertisements about all the sweets that you can indulge in but this week's blog post is steer you in the healthy direction for your dessert choices.

1. FRUIT AND CHOCOLATE
Let's be real, whenever we think of dessert no one ever thinks of mixing it with fruit. But if you are looking for a healthier route, mixing your chocolate with fruit is the direction for you! For example, when you eat a chocolate covered strawberry, you are satisfying your sweet tooth but eating less chocolate than you normally would if you were to just eat a candy bar. One of my favorite ways to combine fruit and chocolate is to get a chocolate rice cake, add a little Nutella, and top it off with strawberries, banana's or raspberries!

2. ICE CREAM
Sadly, the ice cream I am talking about isn't Ben and Jerry's Half Baked but it is the next best thing: Halo Top. This specific brand of ice cream only has 240-360 calories for the entire pint! (disclaimer: you still shouldn't binge eat the entire pint while watching the Bachelor on Monday night) Halo Top is not only low in calories but low in sugar also. I know you're probably thinking this sounds like a dream but it's not, open a pint, grab a spoon and enjoy.

3. BARK THINS
For those of you who have never tried Bark Thins before, I am so sorry for you. This godsend of a dessert is called "snacking chocolate" by its creators. Bark Thins come in many different flavors ranging from chocolate and almond combination to chocolate with pretzels. What is great about this product is all of the different flavors they sell are dark chocolate. As stated in this week's fit fact, when eating chocolate, dark is the way to go! Bark Thins are light and don't make you feel guilty after eating them, the perfect fix for your late night chocolate craving.

Hopefully you found this post inspiring because no one should ever have to go without sweets in their life. Just always remember there is a healthy option or substitution for everything out there so don't get in the mindset of depriving yourself of the good stuff just to try and get that nauti body:)
