The Nauti Truth: My Fitness Story

                                              ♡  HAPPY WELLNESS WEDNESDAY  ♡

Welcome to a new era of the Nauti Body Blog gals!

So first things first, my name is Hayley Lawson and I am the new Health and Wellness Chair for Kappa Delta. My goal to help others live healthy and active lives as well so I am studying Biology here at SDSU to become a physical therapist.

Ever since I was younger, I was playing sports constantly. It started with my parents just signing me up for little kid soccer leagues and T-ball kind of things like every other kid ever.

I continued to play sports throughout my whole life, falling in love with field hockey and soccer. But besides my love for the game itself, I was more appreciative for something else that these sports were giving me, a place to escape.

When my parents got a divorce, it took a pretty big toll on my life. It was a huge change and I felt very upset but was too young to really understand why. The only outlet I had were my sports. It was a mix between the peace of mind it gave me to be working out and the instant friends that it gave me.

Now that I'm older I use fitness as my therapy. I'm not huge about talking about my feelings and emotions because most of the time I don't know how to word it. So when I'm mad, stressed ( which happens a lot trying to study for all my chem tests), or in need of a boost to start my day I workout and I feel 1000% better. So here's how I feel like fitness improves my life significantly and is a great way to fill any free time.

BENEFITS OF FITNESS
1) Going to the gym gives me the time I need to myself to think about problems or any conflicts in my life. (Its like thinking in the shower kinda thing)
2) It releases endorphins in your brain when you work out that boost your mood. (Yes, runners high is a scientific thing)
3) Going to the gym or on a run is super flexible with a busy college schedule so it makes for a great hobby.
4) There are so many different ways to workout whether its going to the gym, being on a sports team, doing yoga, hiking, swimming, there's so much you can do.
5) When you workout, you feel so much more confident in yourself which reflects on so many different parts of your life.
6) Joining classes or teams are great ways to make friends or share similar interests with you.
7) Working out helps to relieve stress which is HUGE in college ( During finals week I literally ran 40+ miles in one week)
8) Being fit and healthy boosts your immune system so you don't get sick all the time.
9) Its good for your skin because when sweat releases dirt stuck in your pores.
10) Working out helps people to sleep better (because its so exhausting lol)

I know not everyone has the same interests or schedules but staying active can pay off so much I promise. Fitness has saved me in some of my most stressful times ,whether its family problems, breakups, or to relieve stress from school, whatever it is. It has inspired my life so much and I am so grateful to be the new health and wellness chair so I can hopefully inspire more people to feel good about themselves through different ways for self-care !
