SDSU EATS

                                                 Happy Wellness Wednesday Ladies !!!

For anyone who ever eats on campus I think we can all agree that sometimes things get old. Last year I almost solely ate at Broken Yolk and Poke, which was good for like two weeks only. Today, I decided to research a little to find the hidden gems of food on our campus and share with you all.

One of my favs: BROKEN YOLK CAFE

Photo of The Broken Yolk Cafe - San Diego, CA, United States. Skillet hash  One thing that Broken Yolk can do right is breakfast. I absolutely looooove the hash bowl. And just fyi it is great recovery food after a night out or a heavy gym sesh. This bowl is a total of 810 calories, 39 grams of protein, 51 grams fat, 6 grams fiber and 6 grams sugar, 480 mg of cholesterol, and 1120 mg of sodium. Altogether this is a big meal.

The acai bowl has only 650 calories but 81 grams of sugar. Acai bowls are a great source for fruit, but if you are looking to cut down on sugar ask for less added sugars like honey and sweetened milks.

OLIVE OIL CAFE

The Olive Oil Cafe entirely is a good option for some healthy food. It has really yummy, gourmet sandwiches that are all under $10. It is also a really good gluten free option. My favorite is the Bayah Caprese that has vegan mozzarella, tomatoes, basil, and sun dried tomato oil. There is also a caprese sandwich at Which Wich that is pretty good but not even close in quality.

SHAKE SMART:

Last year at shake smart I discovered something magical. The overnight oats. Shake Smart was created by an SDSU alum so it is only right that we go while we are here. It has many options for shakes, bowls, oats and more. My favorite is the Dark Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Oatmeal which contains oats, bananas, dark chocolate, and cinnamon. Pretty simple and still so good as a nice breakfast.

CHIPOTLE

So not only because I work here lol but chipotle has some good protein bowls. After a good workout it is so nice to get a nice meal that isn't too unhealthy. A bowl with brown rice, black beans, choice of meat or veggies, and some guac is a nice way to get filled up with some protein and healthy fats.

PLANT POWER

According to Ina, her favorite is the 'chicken' nuggets. These nuggets are made with pea based protein and only contain about 230 calories for 4 of them.  Ina also says they have good ranch lol.

THE HABIT

The habit has this interesting replacement for fries called Tempura Green Beans. They are actually really tasty and healthier for you than most regular fry options. They are only 250 calories and have 100 grams of fat. Their normal french fries have more than twice the amount of fat and almost twice the amount of calories as well.

Ok, there's many other foods I could talk about, but here is just a list of a few favorites of mine and some of my roommates also. If you haven't tried some I recommend you do. :)
